Wow, I didn't realise Herbal Essence was that old! I thought it was first made in like the late '90s.

That was the brand's relaunch. Here's a PowerPoint about it (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CGIQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.qual.com%2Fmedia%2FContemporizing_Herbal_Essences.ppt&ei=WFnnT5mMAsLs0gHTp5DzCQ&usg=AFQjCNHyX_9Mj2SmYzwi3PfvD-l27f0Vag&sig2=EiNuc-sUp2j6uMUzfzAx1w).

Looking at that presentation, I have almost all the traits they associated with the brand, but I never used it because I used *actual* natural body care products (that I bought with my employee discount at Whole Foods), *was* environmentally aware, and saw Herbal Essences as shitty corporate greenwashing. The abuse of "organic" especially pissed me off, as this was before there were USDA standards for cosmetics and companies were getting away with it even more than they are these days.

Huh, Never heard of Tame Shampoo before.

Tame was just conditioner - there was no corresponding shampoo to match. Conditioner at the time was also known as "creme rinse", hence the pun - "Tame Clean Rinse."

I remember Tame! I am old.

I loved Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific!

Mainly because of the name, even if we always shortened it to just gee.

I love the Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific - long after it was discontinued I happened into one of those liquidation places and found a bottle with conditioner and it really sent me back to my teenage years....

what a trip.....:)

Oh wow. I used 'Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific' in...gosh, junior high, I think - late 70s/early 80s. That and 'Body on Tap' which was supposedly made with beer, because, um, beer is good for your hair?

Oh Lawd! I remember all of these! The Earth Born ones weren't too bad but Tame was awful.

Oh, man...Earthborn. I so wanted to use the Avocado, but I had oily hair, so I had to use the Apple. I was so bummed!
I remember using this stuff in 4th grade, when I was 9...

Man I did not remember any of these. Then I saw the tag 1970's and that would make sense.

I used to use that. Nice shampoo, though it always bugged me in the ads when the animated chick not only shampoos in a mountain stream but even drops the shampoo cap into the water without a moment's hesitation or regret.
