National Diamond Sales, 1969
Taken from, yes, a comic book.

I don't quite know what "No Age Limit" means.

You're never too young…

And YES, by the way.

I like how her earrings actually seem to just be in her hair.

Hee hee. I was about to say, "That's got to be from a comic book." And you confirmed my suspicions. I've got a fuck-ton of old comic books and 50 year old tabloid rags laying around my house. One day, I'll get a good scanner and blow your MINDS!

Until then, yes. What the crap was the deal with these old jewelry ads? I can't help but notice that the order form asks for a Social Security number. And a wife and/or sweetheart's name. I'm sure it was all perfectly innocuous, but, jeez. It makes me only too aware of my pre-internet upbringing.

That is pretty scary, isn't it? I remember when SSNs were used for everything. They were used as my student IDs number at one and it was my driver license number when I lived in AZ in 2000, but they changed that policy shortly thereafter and issued me a new license.

Can't wait to see those ads! :)

I used to pore over ads like this in comic books when I was a kid, so it's fun to see this. I'd always be trying to figure out what I would buy if I had the money. Hmmm, I'm thinking Apple Blossom.

I remember ads for wigs, too, with a zillion styles, hand drawn.

This exact ad pops up in my old 70s Scooby Doo books all the time (a few of those books contains entire jewelry catalogs in the middle!). The first time I saw these, my thought was "were military men with lots of disposable income the target audience for Scooby Doo back then?".
