So much wrongness in the text (SO MUCH) but the art is lovely.

It's ALL about HIM. What happened to "a sign of your love FOR HER"?

I didn't know engagement rings for men were a thing then. Question for the married or formerly married guys: Did you wear an engagement ring? I have never personally known any guys who had an engagement ring. The closest I have seen is men wearing their wedding rings before the wedding.

Yeah, I think it was a case of "Stop trying to make men's engagement rings happen!"

When you think of all the traditional symbolism associated with women's engagement rings, a male version would certainly be seen as Threatening the Manhood of the wearer.

I wonder how it works with same-sex couples. If a gay man proposes to his partner, does he customarily offer him an engagement ring? Yes, I am horribly ignorant on this subject, but I live in a hardcore red state and I don't know any people who have gone through the typical engagement/wedding process. :(

It's all over the map with same-sex couples; some don't do anything ring-wise for engagements, some mutually exchange rings, sometimes one partner proposes and gives the other an engagement ring. There's really no "customary" thing, but I think almost everyone does rings for both at the actual wedding (not that all straight couples wear rings either.)

So many straight couples are doing "roll your own" wedding "traditions" as well, that it hardly seems like there is an accepted norm any more. Of course, I've lived in San Francisco and Los Angeles my entire adult life, so my perspective may be a little...eclectic.

That's kind of what I figured. Regional differences are definitely a big factor, too.
