No, the constipation is just what it sounds like. The yeast is a miracle laxative/regulator, I'm guessing along the lines of how probiotics work, but with yeast (fungus) instead of bacteria, although it's more often used now as a vitamin source. Wiki says: 'Probiotics: Some probiotic supplements use the yeast S. boulardii to maintain and restore the natural flora in the gastrointestinal tract. S. boulardii has been shown to reduce the symptoms of acute diarrhea in children,[66][67] prevent reinfection of Clostridium difficile,[68] reduce bowel movements in diarrhea-predominant IBS patients,[69] and reduce the incidence of antibiotic,[70] traveler's,[71] and HIV/AIDS[72] associated diarrheas."
I doubt at the time that they actually had any scientific backing for their product claims; this is decades before anybody had the least clue that there was such a thing as "good bacteria" or probiotics or anything like that.
On the other hand, promoting yeast as a health food/medicine was all the rage in the early twentieth century, because Vitamin B had first been discovered in yeast, and they only knew about two or three vitamins at the time, so that seemed like a big deal and was easily spun by marketers into OMG YEAST IS A MAGIC CURE-EVERYTHING.
