Methinks the O'Donahues are using Crest for more than just toothpaste.

Anyone know of this family? That's a LOT of kids.

What a nice looking family! Makes me think of Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music when he introduced all his children to Maria...but there are over twice as many in the row here! They could have been the Duggar Family of the 60s! :o) Wonder how many children they ended up with in all, and would be nice to know a bit more about them. Mom's figure is quite good for having had so many children. I have friends w/ many children: 2 families have 10 and one has 12. I wonder if they all played tennis, the ones old enough anyway, or maybe dressing up in tennis clothes was an in thing back then?

I was going to mention the Duggars and say "What the Duggars call a medium sized family."

It looks like the fourth one (I couldn't make out his name) had special needs and he might not have been the only one since you can't always tell by looking. In that case, I can really respect their situation even if it's not the path I would have chosen and didn't. We knew we would need to focus so much energy into raising my special needs son and his brother that we just couldn't see having more. That and the possible genetic link.

And I agree Mom looks pretty damn good! A lot better than I do after two. (hang head in shame)

#4's name is Peter (the audio's not real good plus the mom has a strong regional accent that I can't identify).

Edit: Hmmm... I wonder if this is the same family in this article? http://articles.nydailynews.com/2011-08-25/local/29943028_1_standing-o-mom-james

They're Catholic. Who would have guessed? :D

Thanks! I listed to that audio at least four times. If that's the family in the article, I would guess they are from New York. I have met a fair share of New Yorkers, but I still struggle with some of the accents from that region.

Heehee! My grandpa had sixteen siblings, total conveyor belt family but that was an advantage for Victorian/Edwardian farmers, didn't have to hire much help during harvest XD. I just had a measly four siblings, guess my parents weren't being Catholic enough ^_^

I was an only child and my mother was an ex-Catholic. Well, sort of. She would relapse back into it now and then. She had severe health issues so she couldn't have more children even though she wanted more. Technically, she wasn't supposed to have me, but the Pill isn't perfect. Even in 1966, doctors could offer therapeutic abortions if the mother's life really was in danger and my mother's was. Fortunately, for me anyway, enough of the "Catholic" stuck that she decided to take the risk and tough it out and somehow we both survived. :)

And my dad got snipped sometime later so that was that.

Also, I've met a lot of big families that weren't Catholic or even religious. Some people just dig huge families.

Oh yeah, there were tons of large Lutheran families I went to high school.

one of my friends in high school was raised catholic, and her mother went through 19 miscarriages before they moved to a parish with a young priest who sat her down and told her "you have two beautiful children at home who need their mother. its time to NOT try to get pregnant again." (her mother was Rh negative, her father was Rh positive. their first pregnancy was a miscarriage, and that was before the rhogram shots they give out automatically now. she and her brother were both adopted.)

Was nice to see this little article. It makes me wish I could learn more about this family! Sounds like they raised the children well, as they are called "model citizens" in the article. I'm happy about that, as they looked like a nice family.
