Phoenix in March is lovely. After that, it's 100+ degree days pretty much until October. But the Phoenix area is a significant part of my personal history so I'm pretty sentimental about the area, brutal heat and all.

Yes.

Yeah, before reading the line about it being March, I was thinking that 74 degrees in the shade was pretty optimistic. I remember times when 100 degrees in the shade would've been welcome in Phoenix.

I had the same reaction. I thought, "WHAT?" You definitely have to read the disclaimer there.

Actually, 100 degrees in the shade isn't too horrible there because of the "dry heat" thing. The problem is that it gets so much hotter than that. I live in the South now where 100 is really oppressive, but when people say that "at least it's a dry heat" in the desert, I have to explain that when it gets up to 115 or more, it sort of makes up for it. You're not comparing apples to apples. More like apples to ghost peppers. :O

Yes to the ad, no to the snowbirds. Go drive your Buicks under the speed limit and bitch about Obama somewhere else, okay?

All the cartoon cactuses (the saguaros) are in Arizona, and far south of the Grand Canyon, for that matter. Very worth a triip to the Tucson area.

yes

I'd consider high temperatures inclement hehe. I hate them! I like the little bird in the picture.

my aunt lives in Tuscon and whenever I call her up in the summer & ask her how's the weather, she says "oh, it's great! only 100F in the shade!"

wonder if she got that from this ad?
