"When things get wild..." Maybe a loose & limp allusion to The Wild Bunch from 1969 and linked to other similar genre pics like The Professionals a few years earlier. Mexican village shootouts, bandits and revolutionaries were scattered through a number of films in the 60s.

The concept and effect here are surely a little loco, but feel more strangely unfortunate and goofy than wild.
