Although I have to say, "HOLEPROOF" is a hell of a name for loungewear.

I can't stop laughing at that first ad. I know, I know, but... *uncontrollable giggles*

Yeah. Even though I knew what they were going for, my brain automatically went in another direction with it.

One has to wonder whether that was accidentally-on-purpose.

How can you NOT go in all sorts of directions?? I certainly can't! :D

I totally missed the fishing pole the first time. The pipe just adds to the hilarity XD

What? Surely the fishing pole doesn't MEAN anything, does it??? :D

the guy on the left seems a bit incredulous, really.

He looks like he's saying, "You wish!"

It also doesn't help that the guy on the right looks like Bob from the Enzyte ads. Maybe he was their inspiration?

Hey, he's the one holding the fishing pole. I don't know that he really can throw stones...

Okay, seriously, was it normal in "the old days" for men to hang around together in their jammies or underwear? There sure seem to be a lot of ads showing them doing it.

Probably a case of not showing men and women together in such suggestive circumstances. People didn't get gay subtext as much back then. ;)

Remember, these were the days of showing married couples in twin beds!

True, it's doubtful that a show like Starsky And Hutch would have been green-lighted today though a lot of people thought it was pretty gay even back in the '70s. ;)

Ah, okay, that makes sense. They want to show more than one style of pajama, so they have to show more than one man wearing pajamas (or underwear or whatever.)

Heh, not that I don't think there were some gay admen who were having fun with their subtext going over the heads of most people, but since gays were rendered invisible in society, men and women were the de facto couplings, and no way could unmarried people be seen cavorting in jammies together! Or even married ones. ;)

I saw your comment, and at first I thought you'd coined a new term: sub-textravaganza! :D
