Steak and Shake...
I went there for lunch and couldn't resist snapping a picture of these three old ads that were framed on the wall.

Steak and Shake is my FAVORITE PLACE ON EARTH, and god do I miss it having moved 2,000 miles away...

I can categorically state that it has not reached the Pacific Northwest. Which is a damned shame.

Also, I am willing to bet that the bottom picture is/was the location on Chippewa Street, judging by the surrounding buildings.

I like the piping on the waitress's uniform. "Makes my boobs look bigger and my waist look smaller, right?"

I used to eat their food way too often back when I worked on third shift. They were pretty much the only place open after 2 a.m. until the Jack in the Box and the Cook Out opened up the street. I'm glad I don't work those hours anymore. It's really bad for your waistline!

Well, maybe people thought of it as a snack?

Here in New York, we have several Shake Shack locations that people are raving about. Haven't been; I like Foodswings (http://www.foodswings.net/) for my junk food fix.

Are there any locations outside the Midwest? I thought it was mostly an Illinois/Indiana/Kentucky thing...I once went 6 months without S&S, which would have been terrible, but I was in California so I had In n' Out Burger to fall back on. It wasn't quite the same thing, however.
I've always loved that the first location was in Normal, IL (now home to 4 Steak n' Shakes, a super Walmart, and a tiny satellite U of I campus). How Midwestern is that?

Huh, I know of a perfectly good large mall that could have at least one S&S as a tenant. :p

AH STEAK AND SHAKE! My absolute favorite! I could eat there every day...and since I live down the street from one, that's not impossible to do!

Did you know they now added a breakfast menu? I'd really like to try their pancakes.

"It's a meal" is almost as laudable as a tagline as "I'm eating it". (where are my Kevin Smith fans??)
