Edit: This poster communicates both messages at the same time because getting drunk is what you would be doing if you weren't working. USSR didn't have a lot in the way of entertainment options. Television was very lacking in content in the 80s, so I'm going to assume that the movie scene wasn't amazing in the 50s. Young people's music like Jazz and later Rock was frowned upon. Books were challenging to get -- my parents got seriously into recycling when an old-newspapers-for-books program was introduced in the 80s. Nature hikes were pretty much the only thing you could do other than getting drunk.
