You probably can't guess what this is advertising...

And even for what it's for, it's wildly inappropriate.

But give it a shot anyway!           via KaizenVerdant on flickr

Barnes Brothers Nursery Company of Yalesville (Connecticut) was a fruit tree & plant nursery:

"There is nearby supply for starting such orchards, for in the town also is the Barnes Brothers Nursery Company, started in 1900 and incorporated four years later.    It is the most extensive producer of fruit trees and plants in New England, supplying fruit anywhere in New England, New York, New Jersey and Delaware. In Fredonia and Dansville, New York, it has branch nurseries for products which cannot be economically grown in Wallingford.  Its nurseries produce all manner of fruit, small fruit trees and shrubs and shade trees, occupying 125 acres.    Barnes Brothers also have 550 acres in farm land and peach orchards." -History of Wallingford

A nursery? Okay, so I was way off. "Start your own orchard and encourage your workers to follow unsafe harvesting practices (hint: begin by hiring undocumented workers--they won't snitch). This booklet will show you how!"

I cheated... Working in horticulture, I've seen a similar vintage advertisement. But had I not known it was for orchard stock, I would have said casting plasters for the broken arm or leg she's sure to have.

My guess would have been a Health and Safety poster of the "What is wrong with this picture?" variety. %-}

By the way, that icon is kinda creepy. Where did you find it?

I just got it from a icon maker journal. It was the closest I could get to apples :)

Just how long are her thighs? Her knees are in the wrong place and that's before she even hits the ground. :-P
