The most interesting thing is way they make the top-model's life not particularly glamourous. The whole 'get paid irregularly' thing, carting their own props, etc. Far cry from today, I think.

I would own a Mini if I could afford to have an expensive, fairly impractical car.

Yes, this was before the era of the "Supermodels".

However I'd imagine that the more run-of-the-mill models of today - the sort who pose for pattern books and clothing catalogues - still get paid irregularly, cart their own props around, etc.
