The song, "Yes, We Have No Bananas" was a very popular song, and the phrase had been co-opted by grocers in England during the war as a patriotic way of supporting the ban on importing bananas. The ban being part of the rationing scheme, and there to free up cargo space for more necessary items.

Nice ad. It's simple, pretty, and the fruit looks yummy and colorful. I'm glad they don't offer banana flavored Lifesavers, since I'm not crazy about most banana flavored candies.
