God the first time my mother made oxtail stew I really thought I was going to die...to my young palate it was horrid and my mom is a fantastic cook -- but that to me, was just putrid. It was something she had become used to having and making since she was in England during the war - father came home to a bombed London and they both decided to immigrate to Canada and sadly brought all their fears of deprivation and privation with them.....

I will NEVER in my life ever touch oxtail ANYTHING......LOL

Isn't Sauternes a sweet wine? If so, I don't think I want it with my macaroni cheese in green peppers. :-\ The oxtail stew sounds really good though! :-)
