As with a lot of vintage things, I think this is much better than the trailers we get these days.

I agree. Trailers now kinda suck.

Don't they? And the movies themselves...

I swear, the last really good movie I saw was Frost/Nixon. And I was shocked to find it so good.

Most movies now are so cheesy and commercialized. Even The Lorax - a kids movie - has like 70 something product tie ins!

It's no wonder I prefer older movies. They have real plots and good acting!

Seriously. A local arts theater recently played the 6 Thin Man movies as a series, and I hadn't seen them in a while. Aside from seeing them on a big screen, I couldn't believe that until the 6th one, they were all pretty damn good. Where sequels are concerned, you can pretty much count on downhill from the start now.

Agreed. Now it's like...why go to the movie at all? We probably just saw the best parts.

I think maybe some of it dates to the hiring of this infamous 'voice guy' who supposedly does all the voice overs. "In a world -" etc. etc. Suddenly that's the thing and if you're not doing it you don't get to make any more movies or something. It's just such a creativity killer.

Now the quality of the movies themselves is a whole other topic...
