so how many bowls were smoked exactly during the production of that thing?

It looks so bizarrely awesome and full of sixties wackiness and I kind of want to see it now.

I admittedly only saw it once, in about 1998 or so, but I loved it! Even then I remember thinking, "this would be even better if I were stoned."

This movie, which was really weird, has one of my favorite songs in it. Goin' Down (www.youtube.com/watch?v=URb8h4dLKps)

I have not seen Head, but it looks awesomely random. Netflix needs to get Head!

The Pizza Hut commercials is almost vintage enough. Seems like that ad campaign was from the mid-90s.

Head freaked me out when I was a kid!

Random trivia: Head was co-written by Jack Nicholson. I can't remember how that came about -- my Monkees fannishness happened during that inexplicable mid-1980s revival, so in the interim I've forgotten. But yeah, that movie is weird. And of course, I was watching it without altering my consciousness in any way (I was 14, and a Good Kid), so it seemed really weird. I'm totally sad about Davy dying, even though I'm a hardcore Mike girl.

According to Wikipedia it was the movie that destroyed their music careers. I had never even heard of it!

It was also the group effectively tearing their "manufactured image" deliberately to pieces, too. It's really worth watching.

I re-watched it last night. I'd forgotten how the insanity accelerates as the film goes on. I posted "Daddy's Song" among my other favorite Davy tunes on fb yesterday. While it's self-parody, he presents it with such joy that you sort of forget about that. If you've never seen it, watch this - and don't miss the cameo at the end!

This movie is awesome. I taped it off the tv back in 2005 during this weird phase I was going through.
