I will totally lose it when Mike dies and will probably knit myself a green hat and wear it every day for a year, like a Victorian woman wearing black crepe after her husband dies.
Mike was called "Woolhat" in Monkees comics and in promo/merchandising material in the UK. Saw such things in Ireland for a couple of months in '68 when our family visited. (Real Monkees kids -- saw 'em stateside in concert in summer '67.)
This post was the first I heard of his death so thanks for the post. I read on CNN that they think it was a heart attack, but that he was a vegetarian and very fit. Very sad. Sometimes DNA kicks your ass no matter what you do. I also just read that he was exactly one day older than my dad.
