id be willing to bet both are estrogen replacements. mama had that talk with me about a year ago "unless things are just horrific, dont go on the estrogen replacement!"
they can actually make symptoms of menopause worse in some women. whodathunkit? people, being individuals!
That's what my mom told me too. Luckily the whole factory just shut down. No fuss. *\o/*
See, I always thought that menstruation ought to be an "opt-in" experience, if you're trying to have kids. I never wanted kids, so what was that 40 years of bullshit all about?
yep, i got my two and am happy about it...now i have a grandbaby on the way, too!
i'm kind of in the dark about what exactly to expect, mama had a hysterectomy and got the trauma-related menopause from it, the ovaries said enough! and stopped working.
and my grandmothers arent here to ask, and most of my aunts (all on the other side of the family) are drama queens so whats the use asking them and expecting an honest answer? ;)
I'm with the mood swings, but we're also moving (and bought a house!) and we had a death in the extended family. Not to mention the plumbing issue that we had to get someone out here about! Once things calm down around here it'll be better. :)
Word. I'm going through perimenopause/menopause right now, and thus far it's really not that bad. I just take Estroven, which is OTC and which my doctor OK'd. Works, too!
I'm there too, but so far mood swings is about it. Mood swings plus moving stress, plus a death in the extended family...life is hectic.
Mood swings... oh, God, tell me about it! I'm so touchy, I swear I'd take up boxing just so I could punch people in the nose, except I know I'd get my ass kicked.
i'm getting to the point that i can recognise unreasonable anger and tell TheEngineer "look. i'm furious at the entire universe right now, so please leave me alone for a bit so i can get over myself, ok?" and he's good with that. :D
today should be the last of the OMG MOVING ALL THE THINGS!!! and i have a darling (most of the time) ex-husband who is going to clean the apartment so that i dont have to, and then all i have to do is get THIS place under control. (unpacking sucks nearly as much as packing does)
I just started Estroven a few weeks ago when CVS had a sale where you could get it free. (Sort of. It was one of those Extra Care Bucks things. Either way, a good deal.) I think it's working a little better than the plain black cohosh I was taking. I also take evening primrose. I hardly have night sweats or hot flashes anymore.
I can definitely notice the difference when I'm not taking Estroven. No, I'm NOT a paid, or even unpaid, spokesperson. It makes the "dribbling" stop-- otherwise I'd have two-week-long periods dribbles.
Actually, it's more like a few days of "FLOOD!!" and then ten days of "dribble..." so you can understand why I want that damn dribbling stopped. I don't fancy becoming anemic, not to mention it's goddamned annoying,
I do like the "a healthy nation fights best" aspect of the first one. These women are seen as still being able to contribute-they just need help, which is ok.
My mother worked for the Parke Davis division of Warner-Lambert pharmaceuticals in the 80's and 90's. After she retired they were bought by Pfizer, so now you know where there are now.
Along with "unspecified medical treatments" they were also the company that invented Benadryl.
