This was a good movie. I'm a Lincoln scholar so it's very interesting to me to see how he was viewed at different times in our history. I really like the film with Henry Fonda as Young Mr. Lincoln (1940), too.

So many Colonial and Revolutinary movies were made during the late '30s and '40s in addition to Civil War stuff. They wanted to pump up people's patriotism with the War coming and then hitting home hard in 1941. Sergeant York was almost pure propaganda about fighting a war but it was very well done.

Damn. Mars Attacks is 1996. Because what's not to love about Jack Nicholson as the President?
