I agree the shirring is a bit overdone, but I think they're cute! Up to 38" bust? Darn. My boobies is too big. Well, that and everything else.

I have a retro style bathing suit (similar to the red one, actually) with ruching and it's withstood many a dip in a pool
but it's made of modern materials. I guess they didn't hold up back then?
