It actually makes a lot of sense -- massive amounts of Seagram's is probably the only thing that would make me believe that the deserts would bloom thanks to atomic power.

Now how can you not believe it when that picture clearly shows that there's a bumper crop of cotton candy and tree stumps?

You were right.

Radioactive whisky?

That is... amazing.

After enough alcohol you'll forget how much radiation has screwed up the desert. (OK, there were bombs to blame for that, but still...)

I feel like this ad is something you find crumpled on the ground while playing a Fallout game.

I remember seeing a Mechanix Illustrated article about using atomic bombs to heat up the Arctic and then we can build more suburbia there. Even as a kid I knew that it would cool off after and not stay hot.

I found these scans of the illustrations:

Yeah, but what if atomic power caused the desert to pop up in the first place?

Man, those Tokamaks better pay off!

Love it

The power? Too cheap to meter.
Us? Too drunk to matter.

Oy vey. They say "bloom" and all I can see is a mushroom cloud.

This picture is actually supposed to be of the desert at night. But due to the glowing crops, you can't really tell.

I never would have guessed that it was an ad for booze.

Apparently, that farm is growing Hostess Snowballs.
