Tab, 1969

That godawful slogan is what's sticking in my mind.

That flat behind is a memorable shape, but not in a good way.

That behind is not flat.

It's just not overly big and round.

And I'd be fine with it.

That is a NORMAL behind, not the super bubble fat types we see today due to the obesity epidemic!

I think the swimsuit is doing the body shaming for us. It's like it's specially cut to make your butt look flat, and your legs look stubby. Look closer, and there's a total normal woman inside, struggling against bad fashion.

I so wish LJ had "like"

I quite like the padded cups - they pretty up the bosom area rather than flattening.

Because he certainly won't remember you for your sparkling wit, or interesting hobbies....just that you're skinny.

...and ten years his large-pored junior.

What was this, advertising tied to a re-release of Lolita? It's four years too early for Last Tango in Paris.

30 years ago that would not have been considered "skinny". It's funny how our perceptions have changed as we've all ballooned in the past few decades.

And thirty years before that, that definitely would have been considered skinny.

Ideals change all the time.

It's an ad for a no-calorie drink. "Have a shape he can't forget." Whether she was skinny for the time or not, the emphasis of the ad is, "don't be fat, 'cause that's all he'll remember."

The Mindsticker sounds like a rejected title for a Cyril Kornbluth story.

/obscure scifi reference

Not that obscure. I, for one, liked C.M. Kornbluth's oeuvre.

Shouldn't that be a "Mindstayer"?

"We've been working on this ad copy for the past three hours. Nothing sticks out in my mind..."

"Mindsticker...hey that's catchy..."

"Have you been drinking?"

"Oh, just delicious Tab...and vodka."

He looks kind of like Carl Sagan

So basically, be in his mind, but only if you are thin and keep it that way with sugar-free Tab. As if you have don't he will dump your fat ass faster than you can say "mindsticker."

Stay and smoke all of his pot. Be a potsticker.

Wow. An awful slogan indeed.

I can't say exactly what it is, but something about the man reminds me of Walter Koenig, which makes me think of Mr. Bester. That makes the Mindsticker thing seem even worse.

I think she's hot but, wow, seriously hate the swimsuit. And Tab tasted like bat vomit.
