True. I remember seeing in an old movie (comedy) that a gentlemen's undergarment salesman came to a woman's house with samples that she could consider for her husband. Naturally, since this was a comedy, he modeled for her and her husband came home! ;)

The women were swathed from armpit to toe in some kind of nylon or corset. If the temperature went above 60 degrees, daintiness wouldn't be preserved.

I guess the little petticoat sticking out from the girdle are bloomers. Maybe they just squatted down and pulled the crotch over.

I know when women wore hoop skirts and foundations of all kinds, their underwear was crotchless.

Look how far down that corset covers. If they squatted, they'd still get pee in their clothes. They'd have to unhook their stockings and pull up the corset to pee, or so it looks to me.
