I love the ad. Maybe it's "thrilling" because it's so unstable. I know they stopped making Studebakers around 1964. But, stylewise, they were ahead of the pack.
I love looking up the people in these ads. TO THE GOOGLES! Mr. Lawrence Thaw was, apparently, a famous big game hunter. According to the link below, the Mrs. (Lee Thaw, when she wasn't saddled with "Mrs. MY HUSBAND'S NAME") may still be alive and kicking and working with UNESCO to preserve Venice, attending benefits in 2009, etc. Looks like she worked for Sotheby's.
Huh... apparently Ella Fitzgerald gave a benefit concert in Mrs. Thaw's home in the 60's. I want to be so well placed as to have ELLA FITZGERALD singing in my HOUSE.
Ooooh! Do we suppose that Lawrence Thaw is any relation to Harry Thaw, the man who famously shot Stanford White at Madison Square Garden over Gibson-Girl Evelyn Nesbit?

Still, I'd absolutely love to have that car, and in that color too.
