Willard Scott's best work came not as the Today show weatherman or as Ronald MacDonald, but on the radio in Washington. He and Ed Walker combined for a long-running show called "The Joy Boys," where they did all sorts of hilarious skits with a charming, wry sense of humor; they were sort of a D.C. equivalent to Bob and Ray. Thankfully, many of their shows were recorded and can be found online; they are wonderful. (Ed now hosts "The Big Broadcast," an old-time radio program, from 7 to 11 each Sunday night on WAMU-FM in Washington, where you can hear the likes of "Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar," "Dragnet," "Gunsmoke" and other classic series.)
