I love the kitchen, especially the colors and the stove. I guess the "rug" was linoleum. I lived in an old boarding house in college and we had a "rug" like that in the dining room.

Although, if I were going to spring for a rug, I think I would put doors on my cabinets.

I was going to congratulate the advertisers showing two guys in the kitchen, until I saw that the kitchen sink was flowing over with dirty dishes. No, that's women's work!

I think Dad is congratulating Son on a job well mopped before he gets elbow-deep into the sink.

Having just shelves instead of cabinets was how it was done for a long time - i guess nobody thought of 'company' ever being in the kitchen so why bother with doors?

As a Californian, my reaction to door-less cabinets is always "ACK! AIEEE! EARTHQUAKE!"

Of course, a really *serious* earthquake would likely fling the dishes out of the cabinets regardless; but you don't want to make it super-easy for even the minor earthquakes to do it.

Me three! Omg, love it, especially the oven/stove. If i ever won a 'lottery', i'd spring for a refurbished set like that.

Yes! KITTY! Plus males doing "women's work" and not looking like martyrs about it.

A bit of history (http://www.oldhousejournal.com/Linoleum_Rugs/magazine/1471) of linoleum rugs.

I like the pattern (if a bit queasy-making) but DO NOT WANT carpet in the kitchen. If it's a lino-print, maybe, but the ones I've seen have a disturbing near-authenticity that verges into the Uncanny Valley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley).

Yeah, I can see the guys in the kitchen. When my grandmother was sick, my dad and his father had to do all of the cooking and housework when my dad was a kid. He was pretty handy in the kitchen. :)

What is the object on the wall on the left side, near what I am guessing is the door? Is that a light fixture?

Yup. They show up in bathrooms as well, usually on either side of the medicine cabinet.

I'm glad they're showing guys doing some housework.
