Hmm. The company, it seems, was bought by Norsk Hydro in the '90's.

Hydro's single biggest shareholder being... the Norwegian government. Well there's some irony for ya.

Don't be silly. It's obviously the chalice from the palace...or was it the flagon with the dragon...

... they broke the Chalice from the Palace.

The Pellet with the ... what, now?

Man, I love Danny Kaye. Why don't we have actors like this any more?

I'm pretty sure Mike Myers and Will Ferrell would be the modern-day equivalents. Which is to say, I'd imagine that many people in Danny Kaye's time found him incredibly annoying and longed for the good old days, when actors were both hilarious and dignified.

Oh, those Evil Reds! They not only hide under our beds, but they force us to drink poison - and then, according ot the illustration, cut off our hands. Thank you, Bohn Aluminium & Brass Corporation for keeping us safe! *G*

(Or maybe it's a ghostly, disembodied Communist Hand forcing us to drink that poison? Come to think of it, that cup looks a bit like a chalice. So they're not only Evil Reds, but Satanic Socialists as well! ;-)

Hm. I remember similar ads, but they spoke about capitalism. Stylish fists crushing Wall Street guys etc...

Every time I go out into the city I risk a little poison just by breathing.

Would you risk...a little hyperbole? No, wait. Is it possible to have a little hyperbole, or is hyperbole something that by definition you cannot have only a little of?

Anyway, I guess that brass had a high percentage of lead in it.
