Again, I'll try to avoid the whole "barbecue" debate, but mayonnaise in barbecue sauce? I live in an area that has mustard-based barbecue sauce, so I'm trying to keep an open mind. Anyone know if this is good? Looks pretty darned good!

OH yes, excellent idea. I have the perfect one in mind- I actually think it's a mayonnaise ad at that!

If I don't think about the sauces being made with mayo, it looks pretty good!

This is the first ad I've seen in this contest that looked remotely tasty. And the recipes look good, too. I'd still take out the mayo and replace it with something else like a little more vinegar than what's in the ketchup. But that's only because I hate mayonnaise.

I also just sang the "Bring out the Hellmann's..." jingle that was all over TV in the 80s and early 90s. :)

Nice ad!

Actually, if you put mayonnaise on chicken before roasting it, it makes a sort of crispy coating that's much, much better tasting than it sounds. Even better if you add finely minced garlic, granulated onion, paprika, whatever, to the mayo before applying it to the chicken.

Bleargh. I just never could understand the concept of cooked mayonnaise. It's the coolness and creaminess that it adds to a sandwich or dip that makes it fantastic. But that's merely my opinion, not looking to start debate!

I wonder if adding mayo to a barbeque sauce would help meat to retain it's juiciness? It would probably help lean cuts of meat, such as chicken breast, by adding some fat.
