Mmmmm . . . fuel-flavored meat!

This time I won't rant about the use of "Bar-B-Ques." I think the food looks good, though.  My dad used to use charcoal starter all the time and I still remember that acrid odor that would linger in the air for several minutes. This product says "no odor," but I wonder how accurate that is.

yes

there *is* a difference in the taste, gulf lite doesnt have near the aftertaste (although there is *some*, just not much) as other brands. personally, i'd rather spend the money on kingsford charcoal that doesnt need the stuff. (nearly *no* aftertaste at all.)

or ideally, go to someplace that does their actual bbq meat in a smoker, leaving no aftertaste at all. ;) (which reminds me of where i need to ask to go for the b-day dinner... hee!)

Not accurate at all. I've never understood the perceived need to use a petroleum-based "charcoal starter" fluid. Denatured alcohol works great, is cheap, burns completely clean (and quite completely).
