I can't figure it out either... I guess it's a clothing sale but it sounds more like a theater production. Fun ad, though.

I think old ads like this are fun-- so over the top. :)

IKR? Why not "shirting" and "collaring"? And coatings sounds like they're going to dip or spray you in something. "I'm ready to be winterized. Please apply a clear polyurethane coating to my undercarriage."

I have no idea what French Merinos, Coburgs, and Delaines are. Designer names perhaps? Whatever they are, I want them!

It's fabrics - French Merino, Coburg, etc., are types of woolens (light and wonderful). There is such a thing as 'shirting', but it's not advertised here. Trousering is simply fabrics of the appropriate weave and weight for making mens' trousers.

I didn't know that. I don't wear wool, so I know nothing about it. I'm not allergic, I just can't stand the itchiness and I'm too hot natured. I am all about cotton, baby!

I know there's something known as collaring, but it doesn't have anything to do with clothing. Well, not the production of it, anyway.

Thanks for the info!

I think this ad proves that one of the original Dada artists was moonlighting.
