"Hello little birdie! I'm going to EAT you!!"

I know, right? My first inclination is that she's yelling at the poor thing, and the bird is waiting for the first open window he/she sees.

Love alone is not enough! That is why I must eat you.

Is Hitchcock to blame? Or have you not seen that movie?

It's like she's angrily telling the bird the facts of life, that love is not enough, and she already knows she's going to fall in love with that musician in a rock band someday, and end up a bitter alcoholic in a condo after the custody battle in the 80's. It's all laid out for Sally there, she knows it, and she's taking it out on the bird.

People used to advertise birdseed? My, we really were a rich country at one time.

WHA? Does that mean the budgie I had when I was a kid was actually a parakeet? Poor Ernestine.

Awww! He looks just like one of my budgies! His name was Skye and I was about her age when I got him. I hope I didn't look as scary, but I probably did.

I also remember all that stuff you had the buy. The cuttlebones and the grit. I would sometimes get those little seed bells and those would usually be gone in a day or two. So, apparently, to "eat like a bird" means to gorge yourself silly.

Little Suzy wishes she'd seen this ad sooner.
