Medemoiselle, August 1958, p. 27

Such an incredibly elegant ad. Such an odd name for a youth-oriented brand.

Behold the power of Google! According to this blog entry it found for me (http://pastperfectvintage.blogspot.com/2009/06/about-mr-mort.html), Mr. Mort was a label named after Mortimer Goldman.

Well, according to the Vintage Fashion Guild (http://vintagefashionguild.org/label-resource/mr-mort/), *a* Mortimer Goldman founded the label, but it doesn't specify *which* Mortimer Goldman it was. :-)

Mr. Mort as a late 50s youth brand? Proto-goth, perhaps? ;)

How could it, with the number of undergarments she must have on underneath? I mean, this is from a mainstream fashion ad in the 1950s!

So, there's no itching, but I do get pools of sweat all over my body? Thanks, 1950s!

I can't explain my weakness for knit dresses. HOW can it be stylish? And yet it is. I wonder what color it was?

It was gray. Everything in the 1950s was gray -- Pleasantville made that very clear to me.

LOL. Or is it from the alternate future of The Lathe of Heaven???? (q.v. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lathe_of_Heaven))

I prefer this to the 80's grey bag-lady monstrosity from a few posts ago.

There's also a fashion blog by the name Mister Mort (http://mistermort.typepad.com/).
