Life, June 24, 1967:

(ETA:  That was a typo.  This ad is from 1957.  Sorry.)

"Travelized"?

I don't know which is the greater offense against the English language:  "FoMoCo", "travelized", or the use of "ready for anything" as a noun phrase.

Yes for cute art

My other vote is for the noun phrase. At the very least, throw some hyphens in there: Ready-for-Anythings.

The Mount Hood sign appears to be aroused.

The sad thing is that it would work, if not pluralized and capitalization was restrained. Cf. "These are ready for anything."

"FoMoCo" was actually a common abbreviation for Ford, back then. So it may be excused as a colloquialism. "Travelized?" Now that's just wrong.

Oh, and Yes for the upward-pointing arrow, as I used to live within an hour of Mt. Hood.

Where the hell are they starting from that Key West and the Mojave Desert are in the same direction?

Also interesting that they chose as their typical American family a couple who are obviously related to each other.

I had seen an "FoMoCo" metal sign hanging on the wall of an old-garage-turned-thrift store, but now I know what it means. Interesting!
