yep. i had dawn, too. and a massive set of handmade barbie clothes because my grandmother loved me and had nothing better to do than make up doll clothes for me. i mean...a patchwork velvet skirt for a barbie? with all the nap (pile) on the velvet running the right way? LINED??
she was a marvel with her machine, she really was.
i dont remember what happened to the little dolls with their records, but up until a few years ago, my daughter had all the barbies with their extended wardrobe. :)
My great grand mother made me tooooooons of Barbie clothes. I had the best dressed Barbie, hands down. I still have a few of the dresses and they are among some of my prized possessions. I am in the process of getting shoes to match the dresses so I can put them all on yard sale Barbies just to show them off.

I had the black doll-her name was Rosemary IIRC. I bought her because I didn't have any black dolls then , so she was "unusual". That, and her outfit had a shawl, which was a look I liked. Her record was a pretty shade of purple/lilac.
All these long years later, and I still collect a few dolls (Barbies mostly) , I still like wearing shawls and pashminas, and shades of purple are still my favorite color. Strange how our earliest years really can set a lasting pattern.
