Child: "Mother, why does Father put Pond's Extract on his face when he isn't hurt?"

Mother: "Because he's a fancy boy, dearie. It was a marriage of convenience and I guess it's time you learned he isn't your father anyway. You know the man who delivers Mummy's "special medicine" every Thursday? Yeah, well."

It's really a very nice rendering. I love the detail like the mandolin and the books.

for me, pond's cold cream is a lovely memory. its smoothing it on my grandmother's face, then removing it with tissues. the little jar was always on the end table in the living room because she used it while she watched tv before bedtime.

good memories. its been just over 4 years since she passed on...but at age 94, she had a *right* to move onward and upward. still miss the old bat, though. (she called me hyena and told me "you better love me", and i called her old bat. loved her to death, i really did. and still do.)

I love stories like this!

Also, how do you edit? Do you need a paid LJ account to do that? I always have to delete and repost when I make a mistake.

Thanks for the clarification. As often as I use this forum, I should probably subscribe. The only time I can edit is when I post an entry, which is good because it usually takes me about 10 tries to get it right!

The cost is fairly negligible considering being able to correct yourself. It takes me ten forevers to get things right in my mind much less trying to post. :)

Such a great story.

I still miss both my Grams, even though it's been almsot 8 years for my paternal gram, and 22 years for my maternal gram.

Lovely linework.

Pond's Extract, BTW, is witch hazel.
