Yeah, as much as I detest the de Beers cartel, the havoc they've caused, and all they stand for, I admire the shit out of their marketing geniuses. Because BOY have they done a great job!

This is actually a more humane message for the prospective purchasers than the later "you should spend two months' salary" thing they came up with. The message here is "you can have a fine diamond even at modest cost."

Do they still use the "two months' salary" "guideline" in their advertising? I always thought that was pretty offensive. "You should spend 16% of your annual income on a little rock or else you are a WORTHLESS BUM WHO DOESN'T LOVE HIS INTENDED ENOUGH AND EVERYONE WILL KNOW IT."
