"Evenings entertaining the boys in service" sounds a bit unsavory.

Looks like Botox to me.

So it's speed, right? I'm just recalling the infamous doctor who gave "Vitamin B-12" injections to JFK and tons of famous people in the 60's, that were mostly amphetamine. I mean, look at them in that picture! Amphetamine use was pretty widespread during WWII, from pilots to factory workers; they had to keep going, and the bad effects weren't well known. Yeah, I'd bet this magic "vitamin" here was basically speed. "Euphoria!" is definitely an attraction of a dangerous drug.

Hells yes. I could do with some "vitamin" shots right now, truth be told.

I was going to say that "Euphoria" sounds like some kind of street drug.

Poor Betty. They might well have been giving her speed or God only knows what. She suffered from horrible alcoholism and drug addiction for a long time, before she got clean and had her comeback on Broadway in "Annie".

Yep, it's the "vitamins" that give her that euphoria. Apparently, they have the same effect as Botox. Her facial expression doesn't change a bit.

Didn't she have a bunch of facelifts as well? It seems likely... she has that look about her.

You're right that she has more of the overdone face-lift look. That's not a forced smile; it's how she looks all the time whether she likes it or not. I really don't know much about her.

Another "speedy" thing, look at her clenched jaw in the picture- hardly a natural smile, it was probably grinding like a typewriter. And there's something sort of sinister about the second picture, Hollywood Starlet In Costume Getting Her Daily Dose From The Studio Doctor, Who's Not A Quack Despite Those Stories. Kind of funny, kind of awful.

Ah, and looks like I'm not the only one who thought "Euphoria" was the street name for some sort of long-lasting upper or something.

Well, I think all those men and our Betty are hopped up on something. And Betty is hugging her stash very close to the vest. Like she's afraid someone will take it away from her. In the second picture, she looks like she's about to climb the walls.
