I remember this from OMNI magazine in the 70s and 80s, but I don't think it ever caught on. Blame the Walkman.

I had a pair of these. Or rather, the later version that had no radio and was designed to plug into your walkman.

They're selling mp3 players that work underwater and conduct sound the same way.

I so remember these in Omni Magazine when I was a kid. I always wondered if they really worked.

This is a confusing ad until you read the lengthy copy, not that I read it all. The product name seems to have little to do with what the product does and the product doesn't look anything like speakers. At first, I thought it was some sort of heat wrap for the neck because the woman looks like she's in pain. So a vote for making me go "huh?"

As a Sims2 player, I'm conditioned to think the "bone phone" is how you resurrect the dead or make zombies. After that, I was looking for some sort of telephone. I just failed all around with this ad.

I knew someone who had one of these. His parents thought it'd be safer for him to wear than a Walkman when he rode his bicycle. The thing is, though, his mom sewed a fabric case for it (he wanted it to be "camouflague") and it didn't work as well with the cover.

Bone Fone...it sounds like something you'd keep in your sock drawer. Seriously, I'm more than 15.

Oh, man. I read that title and was extremely disappointed. I thought I was reading about Fone Bone.

Thank you for relighting a neural pathway that had been dark since 1979. Wow.
