That's what I was thinking. I'm willing to best Mrs. Husband married right after high school, conceived within the first month, and that plus probably 3-year-old daughter = 21/22 (depending on when in the school year 'the wife' was born.) HOW DOES SHE DO IT?!
The woman is named like a chattel from the 19th century; why would she even want to appear young and modern if she's so old-fashioned she thinks of herself as a mere appendage to a male?
My grandmother (born in 1916) was genuinely surprised when I told her that it was weird to address letters to my mother as Mrs. John Smith because that's not her name. This would have been in 1978 or so.
In 1965? That's how everyone did it. Although, in some contexts papers might include her name as "Mrs. Willis Peterson (Mary)". Besides they couldn't call her "Mrs. Mary Peterson"! That would imply she was divorced and therefore, of course, a total slut. No reputable company could feature a divorcee in their ads!!!
What amuses me about these "so pure it floats" ads is that the floating was a pure accident. One of the vats was left to churn longer than it should have been, and air got whipped into the still-liquid soap. It makes the bars light enough to float PLUS makes a larger bar with fewer ingredients. So.. It's a win/win for the manufacterur.
One thing nobody here mentions is that Ivory soap is mostly rendered beef tallow and by-products. Few soaps proudly proclaim they're made from slaughterhouse waste.
Oddly enough, that part doesn't bother me at all. I've seen how soap is made, I've been rural enough (as a 10-12 year old) that we raised a pig and chickens to eat. And we had a garden then, too. It was normal for living on the outskirts of a small town in Texas. We respected the animals and understood these weren't pets, this was future dinner.
We also were expected to help process the chickens for the freezer (the pig was dispatched and packaged up elsewhere).
