I often order Jello via phone.

Weird use of "stock imagery."

Also? Her thick black outlining is unflattering at best.

Silly, it's all about the phallic use of the phone.

I believe it. Look in her eyes. Pure tramp. She's trying to steal you from Royal.

Kinky. She could have just used an ear of corn instead.

Yes, but the boys have a way of hogging them all up. (http://news.3yen.com/wp-content/images/hyperwankers_350x262.jpg)

Alas, like ketchup-flavored potato chips, 'twas yet to be invented.

People used to order their groceries and have them delivered, you know. ;)

*nods* And even if you picked them up yourself, self-serve grocery stores post-dated this ad. You gave the grocer your list and had it filled rather than browsing shelves.

In 1932 Disney did a cartoon, "The Grocery Boy", with Mickey in the title role delivering Minnie's groceries, so the idea of having groceries delivered stuck around for quite a while, at least for city dwellers. As late as the 1960s small towns might not have a supermarket: Shirley Jackson had the narrator of We Have Always Lived In the Castle (1962, I think) walk into the village grocery and read the grocer her list as he and his wife assembled her order.

Right! If you could afford a phone, you could afford a delivery fee. Most people still didn't have cars so getting to the store and schlepping the groceries home was a hassle. And if you sent your servant to do it, she'd take all day about it.

Lots of people still do. When I was house-bound for six weeks, grocery delivery was a lifesaver NEGL.

Yep, bodegas here in NYC will often deliver to your home.

That was some expensive Jello back then. It's like $2 a package today or some such. It doesn't cost that much these days.

I think the gelatin is 1.50 or less per package if I remember correctly.

MmmmmMM! Nothin' says yummy like hoof squeezins!

Ugh, I can't stand Jell-O. The texture makes me gag.

Ten cents a package might be old *wink wink* for "dime bag." She looks like a wild eyed lead for an anti-drug movie called "Jell-O Madness."

"Pssst, I can't pay you until next week but can you bring it by anyway? Please???"
