If it weren't for the cents signs, I would've thought this was a British ad.

As a user of a saftey razor, I wonder what the advantage of single edge blades is/was. I suppose they might be cheaper and of course there'd be less risk of slicing your fingers if you were a bit clumsy one morning. Still, I'd think they'd get dull more quickly.
