True story: a friend's father was a writer on several very popular sitcoms back in the 70s and 80s; in fact, one very prominent character from Cheers was named after him. He is still very involved in show biz. Anyway, one day my friend is at her parents' place, and happens to answer the phone. A man asks for her Dad, and my friend says he's outside, but she'll go get him, and can she tell her Dad who's calling?
Yes, for the uber cheesiness and yes for the days when airlines gave a damn and flying was supposed to be a pleasure. The planes reeked of recycled stale cigarette smoke even in the "non-smoking" areas (ha, yes, the smoke is not allowed to go behind row 32!) but as much as I hated that smell, it never stopped me from flying. Now, unless I'm going overseas, f*** it! I'm driving!
