Date: 2011-02-03 08:29 pm (UTC)Racism isn't outdated, as you seem to erroneously believe. It is still alive and well. That seems to be the part you're missing.

Date: 2011-02-03 09:13 pm (UTC)I wouldn't necessarily compare it to fashion, but you're right in that it happened, and it's not worth getting your panties in a wad over it now. When's the last time we saw a cartoon character engage in such mindless racism in a government-sponsored ad? Not exactly yesterday, folks.

Yes
Date: 2011-02-03 06:57 pm (UTC)Now I'm curious- did they really sell bonds door to door? And I've heard of the war bond - but what was the stamp part? Were they regular postage stamps, or some sort of green-stamp-ish stamp?
Re: Yes
Date: 2011-02-03 07:18 pm (UTC)According to this, war stamps were sold (starting at a price of $0.10)and could be exchanged for war bonds when the total amount of the stamps = the cost of the bond. Pretty cool if you ask me.
