It's weird looking back at Hollywood "goddesses" of yesteryear...So many of them have hair styles that look VERY matronly by today's standards...Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Jayne Mansfield...Short "cap of curl" stiff sprayed mops that look a lot like Edith Bunker's hairstyle, or the Golden Girls.

Actually, Bardot was the only sex symbol back then that I can recall whose hair *didn't* look all grandmotherly.

*nods* She was like a post-beat, pre-hippie person. Of course, all the stars you mentioned before her are also of a different generation. Bardot was one of the first really "sixties" ones. Completely different type.

Though of course, in a non-mainstream sense there was always Juliette Greco et al.
