I love this! I'm a sucker for Art Deco/Art Nouveau to begin with, and the ad seems to have a little of both. Lovely colors and style. I wish I could get a good quality print of it.

I wonder what fragrance Mavis had?

I tried looking around a bit, and found plenty on the Mavis ads and bottles, but I haven't been able to find any description of the scent. In fact, I found one source (http://books.google.com/books?id=HY5qgKfwmsEC&pg=PA131&lpg=PA131&dq=mavis+perfume+scent+description&source=bl&ots=HlSR9lxlaS&sig=6Ss2NWpERoFvbFQYYni86mmr53s&hl=en&ei=4eZETbuRNpCisAOD9rXLCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=4&sqi=2&ved=0CDMQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=mavis&f=false) noting Fred Packer's famous ads are quite significant for their lack of description!

Beautiful ad! For some reason the words "Vivaudou" and "Mavis" rescrambled themselved into "mauvais" (bad) in my brain! Ce n'est pas mauvais!

I'd love to find a poster of this and put it up on my wall, it's so beautiful.

There's a swooping weightlessness to the whole thing. It's kind of like a Japanese woodcut as rendered by Doctor Seuss, with the filigreed detail of an illuminated manuscript on the dress.

I don't think he's actually the artist here, but this reminds me a lot of Kay Nielsen's fairy tale illustrations (http://nielsen.artsycraftsy.com/).
