From context, it was with grandma's Sunset clippings from the late 1940s, but the typography is wrong for it to be that mag. Ladies Home Journal, maybe?

makes me wonder what they were using for flooring before this if an egg causes strains. I mean, you pulled a muscle wiping up an egg off your...dirt floor? Because you had to...I dunno, go dig up some fresh dirt to cover it? LOL

If you drop an egg, there is no flooring on Earth that will help. It's still a giant pain the ass to clean up.

(Not as bad if you have a bunch of salt to put on it though.)

It's a funny ad though. She looks like she was just out gather the eggs in the hen house in her neat red dress.

I never heard that salt tip before. I looked it up and sure, enough, it's a thing. I'm almost tempted to break an egg just to try this!

Maybe if she didn't carry the basket in her fingertips at chin height she wouldn't have these problems.

If she dropped an egg it'd be hard to tell which is egg and which is that fugly floor! I have very similar tile in my bedroom. It camouflages cat barf and dust bunnies and I can't tell the difference between clean and dirty after I've washed it.

You'll never have children if you keep dropping those eggs, young wife!

Seriously, she's watching her child-bearing years slip away from her, visually. Ought to move some linoleum.

I think an egg stain would be an improvement over that tiling. Blech!

Reminds me of when my dad finally tore up the carpet in his house that had been there when he bought it. Instead of finding hardwood floors, he was unpleasantly surprised by ugly tile similar to above, except it was black with yellow and white streaks.

Every school I attended had the brown tile that edges the green in the ad.
That stuff was nearly indestructible!
