The "totally wild" look looks... interesting.

There's the 'dry' look, and then there's the 'I bake my hair at 450 degrees' look.

Wow, you summed up 80s hair in one sentence! o.o

I really wish I hadn't bought so much stock in the gigantic bow market.

The only thing missing from this ad is the 8 cans of mousse that all 80s styles required.

Mousse? FOR PUSSIES! Only hairspray, backcombing, a burning hot hairdryer and serious chemical damage was needed!

I freaking LOVED my crimper, but I had to douse my hair in hairspray to make it stay crimped **stoopid humid Texas weather**.

I never crimped my hair! Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I had that thing! God. First time I used it, I hated it, it took forever!

One weird reason I'm kind of glad I wasn't an eighties girl, my hair couldn't hold anything for the longest time. xD Not even a perm.

No! Crimping holds! It's amazing!

I looooooved my crimper. I had it for nearly 20 years, then killed it in England with a wrong-voltage issue. BRB CRYING FOREVER. I therefore haven't had crimped hair in five years. :(((

I had that pink one. And, throwback that I am, I have a new one too. It's got interchangeable heads so I can do big crimps or small.
Oh come on, don't look at me like that. AS IF! I know you were braiding your hair in 50 million braids before you went to bed so you could have the same effect.

I had it, too. Still do, and it still works! I still use it sometimes!! :D

Nope!

I had my mom do the braids for me.

I think my sister had one. Burning zigzags into hair, oh what people do for fashion sometimes. haha

I had one, but I used the waver the most. I loved the waver, looked like a body wave and it would stay in all day. Yeah, it took forever, but it was worth it. Better than a perm.

Oh jeez. *THAT* commercial.

Back in the 80s, while in college, I worked part time at Sears. Back then, Sears still had a section that sold grooming items and it was right across the aisle from the department where I worked. For a long time, the store had a display set up over there that included a tv and vcr that would play ads for whatever product they were pushing at the time. This ad was one of them.

So yah, seeing this again brings back memories of standing around, bored to tears in the paint department on some winter night and hearing that whispered "Windmere" over and over every few minutes.

Oh man. I'm glad I was only a little kid in the 80's. I never had to deal with the crimping or perms...just mushroom haircuts and sky high bangs.

Oooooo....yeah. Flashbacks to middle school!! And, since only babies have thinner hair than I do, at least it gave me some volume!

Ugh, I had this exact one (pink) and seeing the commercial suddenly brought back the smell of frying hair. I didn't use it all over, though, just the underneath layers to give my hair some volume. Still, yeesh.

I still have my Babyliss crimper, and it still works! I always bring it with me to the 80s costume parties, and it's always a hit :)
