I hated that they put the cheese on the cold side of the styrofoam box. Cheese is supposed to be all warm and melty on a cheeseburger!

I was confused by that, too. What a missed opportunity. Otherwise, I liked the McDLT. Ate more than a few of 'em.

I have to admit I'm old enough to remember the McDLT.

I'm disturbed to admit how good that looks right now. (And I just finished lunch!)

We call it "assloads of styrofoam"! You weren't using that ozone layer for anything, were you?

I wish I was old enough to remember these. I still think they sound like a great idea!

I wasn't even 10 years old yet when these came out, but I loved them. Two things that remain the same since then are 1) I still think a 'good' burger needs lettuce and tomato to be complete, and 2) I still scrape off the damn onions.

I remember these! Never had one, though, as I hate tomatoes.

(Not really vintage, but does anyone else remember the Arch Deluxe of the mid-'90s? I had one once, I remember it being not all that great. I think they were around for like a week and a half.)

Yeah! The Arch Deluxe came along when McDonald's got tired of being perceived as just a place for families with small kids: they developed this new sandwich to appeal to the mature, sophisticated, adult palate.

Because when I think "mature, sophisticated, adult palate", the first name that springs to mind is "McDonald's".

I remember the McDLT.

My parents had a hamburger stand and when the McDLT debuted, the price of tomatoes shot through the roof! It turned out that McDonald's tomato vendors weren't all lined up just yet and they were buying them from everywhere they could.

It drive me nuts that the cheese was next to the cold lettuce and tomato too.
