It's wintry, at least:  snow on the ground, bare trees, and lead in the air.

Life, February 2, 1953.  Lead!  Because cars run their best on gasoline that's ADULTERATED WITH LEAD!

I still remember when "Regular" meant leaded vs. unleaded and when gas stations started offering both types of fuel.

Same here! It's one of those references from movies and TV that will baffle my children.

I remember a restaurant in the 80s that served two types of coffee, "regular" and "unleaded"—meaning regular and decaf.

Yup. My first car was old enough that it needed leaded, and at the time leaded gas was falling out of favor. I had to keep track of which local stations still had it.

It's a whole world of frights. One day I fear I'll look back the same way at the first computers I built.

Oh, and YES

That struck me too, but can't say "like" as much as, "what a deathwish" that contraption must've been.

I love the "I'm a dork" look on that passenger's face.

Wouldn't you feel like one if you were sitting in a box stuck to the outside of a car? I know I would!

Who is the marketing genius that came up with Locomobile? Me thinks some locoweed was involved there.

I like that 1903 Orient! That looks fun, but not on a real road. I'm thinking sand dunes!
