true, but they seem overly large to me. maybe it is the angle of the hand. but it still seems out of proportion

but that's me

*shrug*

Gloves look a little too big, but as others have said Lane Bryant also did (does?) clothes for tall ladies, which could also explain large hands.

I'd rather be called omgdeathfatz than chubby. Unless we're talking Ben & Jerry's chubby hubby ice cream. ;)

I had no idea they've been around that long. I thought they were, "invented," in the 80s, LOL

How chubby could someone be back then? Didn't they still have washing machines with rollers and war rations?

Actually, if I remember correctly from things my grandmother has said before, war rations could actually be really bad for your weight.

Things like meat and vegetables cost a lot of your ration points, so were hard to get. Whereas flour to make your own breads, cakes and pastas were relatively easy to get. Especially if you were raising your own chickens and had access to fresh eggs often.

My grandma talks about wishing she could have an apple for breakfast for once because she was so tired of pancakes and boiled eggs.

the 1950s had a pretty liberal definition of what a chubby was, lol

Some things never change..."fat" clothes on thin models. Sigh. I also want that coat. It's called a "swing coat", as you probably know.

Yup. At least you can't see the sleeves hanging over hands like in some of the current fat-chick catalogues (http://www.womanwithin.com/clothing/Fabulous-tunic-by-Only-Necessities.aspx?PfId=204916&DeptId=20824&ProductTypeId=1).

For many years Lane Bryant also specialized in Talls for all size ranges. A lot of men's stores still group extra wide and extra tall together. My rotund father used to buy suits at a local shop called "High and Mighty" in the 1970s.

I'll forgive them anything, even calling me a 'Chubbie', if they give me that coat. It's divine.

Lane Bryant started out in the early 1900s as a maternity shop.

The coat and hat are both adorable.

The cut of that coat would look cute on most anyone, I'd imagine.
